Youth Minister/Confirmation Coordinator
Sacred Heart Parish is seeking a part-time Youth Minister/Confirmation Coordinator to work
within a Whole Community Catechesis vision of parish life. The successful candidate should:
- be a practicing Catholic who has experience working with teenagers and young adults within an educational or religious formation setting.
- have a good rapport with teenagers and young people;
- possess good communication, organizational and team building skills;
- have a bachelors degree in religious studies, education or a related field.
As Confirmation Coordinator he/she will implement and oversee the parish Confirmation program (four workshops, retreat, service projects) and the celebration of the sacrament. As Youth Minister he/she will plan and coordinate the annual Mission Trip and two seasonal gatherings and also be an advocate for young people within the parish community. This is anticipated to be a 10-15 hour per week stipended position. Coordinator of Design and Curriculum
Sacred Heart Parish is seeking a Coordinator of Design and Curriculum for
their intergenerational faith formation program. The Coordinator would be
responsible for the design and implementation of the curriculum for grades
1-10. This would involve:
- working with parish staff and the Core Team of the Faith Formation
program in determining the overall theme and topic of the program;
- designing the curriculum for grades 1-10 based upon that topic;
- meeting with and facilitating the training of grade level ministers who
will teach the curriculum.
The successful candidate should be a practicing Catholic who shares the
Whole Community Catechesis vision of parish life, who has a solid
background in theology and a working understanding of educational method
and practices for children and young people and who possesses good
organizational, communication and team building skills. A bachelor’s degree
in Religious Studies or a related field and personal experience with Whole
Community Catechesis is preferred.
Salary and benefits will be commensurate with education and experience.

Minister of Grade Level
Position entails following a lesson plan that is created by the
coordinator of the Grade Level.
- Grade level minister will sit down with the coordinator
prior to the start of the session and go over the lesson design.
Minister will work collaboratively with the coordinator in smoothing out
any design issues.
- Grade Level Minister will be responsible for teaching all 5
nights and working with parent volunteers each night.
- Minister will provide feedback on the session and offer
suggestions for design improvement.
- Minister will participate in on going training and on going
understanding of WCC and it's goals and vision for our parish.
- Position requires someone with experience in teaching
religious education. A knowledge of and commitment towards whole
community catechesis is necessary. Effective Classroom management
skills, and an engaging teaching style combined with experience in
teaching the particular age group is needed.
- During the interview process the candidate will demonstrate their
knowledge of WCC by answering some open-ended questions that refer to
materials received.
- Candidate will assess a lesson plan and give creative suggestions for
engaging the age group they are applying for. We will look at movement,
level of enthusiasm and grade level developmental understanding.
- Candidate will demonstrate their ability to lead in particularly
challenging situations.
- Candidate will answer some open-ended questions that pertain to the
expectations of the parish families and faith formation and will
demonstrate their understanding of the combined elements necessary in
teaching the particular age group they are applying for.
