Baptismal Ministry
Be part of a welcoming team! If you are friendly and desire to make people feel welcome in our parish, consider being part of our Baptismal Welcoming Ministry. Every other month, on a Saturday from 1:30 to 3 pm, we gather with families who are preparing to have their babies baptized. At this meeting we go over the rite of baptism in a way that we come to understand the symbols of baptism in both a liturgical sense and how it applies to our everyday lives. Team members welcome the parents and initiate conversations with the families. This is easy to do since every new parent wants to speak about their child! Your presence is not required at every meeting.
But perhaps you are not available on Saturdays. Another way you can participate in the Baptismal Ministry is to attend the actual baptism celebrations. These are held monthly on a Sunday at 12:30 pm. Team members arrive by noon and welcome the families and friends of those to be baptized, directing them to their seats in the Church. There is also the opportunity to do a reading or the prayer of the faithful at the Baptism. You do not need to attend every baptism, every month. Sign up for the Sundays that you are available. If you are homebound or aren’t able to make the commitment to attend a parent class or a baptism celebration, you may be part of the Baptismal Ministry by sending a card at the time of their baptism, and remembering them on the anniversary of their baptism. This is another way that we as a parish welcome young families in our midst. Those who are part of the Baptismal Ministry have the opportunity to get to know our parishioners and their families. And we are looking for warm and friendly parishioners to join this team. Contact Information For This Ministry Click here to return to the Ministry Opportunities page
