Pastoral Council of Sacred Heart Church
The Pastoral Council of Sacred Heart Church is an advisory board to the pastor which collaborates in the ministry of the parish community. The Council is a consultative body of the parish. Its functions are to give direction, to serve, and to be a catalyst for development.
The primary goals of the Council are:
- To advise the pastor on present and future directions for the parish community based on the mission of Christ and the presence of the Holy Spirit.
- To assist the pastor as an instrument for sharing the mission of Jesus, proclaiming His Gospel, building His Community, celebrating His liturgy, and serving His people.
- To set an example of unity and cooperation as a Christian community to the parish and the Church.
The Council consists of the pastor, one of the deacons, pastoral associates, and 12 lay members of Sacred Heart Church. Each lay council member serves for a term of three years and new members fill four seats on the council each year. Three lay members are elected to serve as officers filling the roles of Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, and Secretary.
