Steubenville East 2002
Several members of the Sacred Heart Youth Group headed up to the LaSalette Shrine
in Attleboro, MA during the weekend of July 19-21 with sleeping bags and flashlights
in hand for this year's Steubenville East Youth conference! Here's some photos
from the event:

Sacred Heart conference attendees: From left, Dan, Denelle, Larry, Tom, Kristin, Erin, Heather, Kathy, Melissa, Lauren, Shanna; Seated: Katie; Behind the camera: Lori

Several bands and guest speakers entertained the group throughout the weekend.
In this photo we see "The Jailbirds" who performed several skits. They always ended
with the lively theme song for the conference "Set Free".

The Young Apostles made sure everyone knew the motions
involved in each song. In addition to helping throughout the weekend, they acted as great role models.

Singing, singing, singing!!! One of the "Young Apostles" teaches the audience the hand movements to go along with this song. Everyone loved it.

Erin, Katie, and Melissa, enjoying the Conga line...

The great host and speaker for the weekend - Jim Beckman. Jim has hosted the Steubenville
Summer Youth conferences for 16 years and is regional director of LIFE TEEN in the Rockies.

Lisa Weible Militello spoke to the young women at the conference about the "Fruit of the Spirit."

Ralph Poyo spoke to the young men at the conference about sin and making choices.

Shanna, Kristin, & Lauren sharing a few moments in the girls tent. As you can see, it was pretty crowded in there!

Erin & Heather getting ready to ask Fr. Stan for his autograph just before Mass on Sunday.
Fr. Stan signs Erin's shirt. "You think you the only one who's gotta suffer?"
Fr. Stan is a bit of a celebrity in that aside from being a gifted speaker, he is also
an accomplished musician and composer who has established a non-profit record company
called Francesco Productions, proceeds of which go directly to the poor. Fr. Stan
travels extensively, preaching the gospel at conferences, retreats, and national
and international youth prayer festivals. Click here for a short song clip of
Fr. Stan's song
Everybody Got to Suffer (requires free Real Audio or
RealOne Player).
