Catholic Concerns Day
April 5, 2006

On Wednesday, April 5, 2006, Catholics from around the state met in Hartford for a day of prayer, reflection, and meetings with their State Legislators to express their concerns. This was the eighth annual Catholic Concerns Day.

After meeting at the Cathedral, the assembled throng starts out on a march to the State Office Building for a meeting with the state legislators.
Kate from Sacred Heart had a chance to meet Marie Hilliard, Executive director of the Connecticut Catholic Conference.
Nothing like a marching band to keep the spirit alive, and the feet moving in the right direction.
Nothing like marching in the cold, wet and snow. Yes, snow. Despite the calendar, old man winter had one more trick up his sleeve, and decided to use it today.
The march arrived at the capitol buliding, ready to meet with their religious leaders and legislators to discuss matters of importance.
There was not enough room in the meeting room for everyone to get in, so these folks used an overflow room to have someplace to gather and listen to the speakers.
Bernie from Sacred Heart had an opportunity to meet with State Senator Lou DeLuca prior to the scheduled speakers.
The assembled bishops from the state were all present to speak with the marchers, and the media about the particular concerns of Catholics. Here Archbishop Mansell of Hartford addresses the assembled crowd.
