“For I was hungry and you gave me food…”
—Matthew 26:35

For the past 25 years, Sacred Heart has participated in the St. Vincent De Paul Waterbury Shelter luncheon program by providing sandwiches to the residents on the 2nd and last Wednesdays of each month.

The sandwich ingredients are provided by our parish and we meet in the church kitchen from 9:00 AM to around 10:30 AM on these Wednesdays to make the sandwiches. Along with our kitchen volunteers, we also have sandwich makers who work out of their own homes. We prepare about 1000 sandwiches a month. Once the food is prepared, a group of us delivers the sandwiches to the shelter.

During the school year, many of our students also assist us. It’s a great way for young people to help those less fortunate people in our community.
