As instituted by the Archdiocese of Hartford, preventing abuse of children and vulnerable adults is the goal of this educational/training program. It teaches adults how to recognize and respond to warning signs of abuse in vulnerable age groups in order to create a safe environment for our entire parish community.

All clergy, religious, and adult volunteers who work with young people, elderly parishioners, or any group of people considered at risk, all Eucharistic Ministers visiting homes/nursing facilities, and anyone in contact with vulnerable people as a representative of Sacred Heart Parish, must attend a 3-hour training session and have the mandated background check. The Archdiocese requires each parish to keep a comprehensive list of all attendees and their roles so that it can provide up-to-date reports showing each parish is in compliance with the requirements.
